01 · hello

🙏 namaste

Hello, traveler.

I'm Bibek, a who builds thingsfor the .

My job title has changed throughout the years as I've shifted career priorities and tools keep changing. The hard part hasn't moved an inch: figuring out what's actually worth building.

These days, I'm building omanote, an opinionated note-taking app, exploring AI UX and product management. Also ricing an Omarchy setup to my heart's content.

Previously at reAlpha (Naamche) and Leapfrog.

02 · what i build

What I'm building.

Few of things that eat most of my spare hours right now.

omanote

One founder, one canvas, four months — designing and building an end-to-end encrypted, local-first daily workspace, and using it as a live test of how far AI coding tools can carry someone who already has the design taste and architecture decisions fully formed.

Ricing Omarchy

I've been a Linux enthusiast for more than a decade now, always distro-hopping and tinkering with configs that match what I want. Omarchy by DHH hit home for me. While it's already great, I have some personal configs and settings on top of it, ricing it to my needs on an already great base.

03 · what i think

I write to find out what I think.

Opinions and thoughts disappear in the head if they're not brought to the world. I write reflections and learnings on everyday life and design.

04 · what i believe

Six things I keep coming back to.

A handful of values I've picked up working with people and learning things the hard way. What I build is just those values showing up in practice.

Your effort is the point.

AI is the solution to a problem that never was. If you treat your inability to do something as a problem and let AI shortcut it, you neither grow past the inability nor learn the skill.

Your effort is the point

Don’t marry your design.

Falling in love with your own work is the fastest way to stall it. Detachment is what makes feedback, iteration, and actual collaboration possible.

5 mantras I grew up with as a product designer

The tool was never the differentiator.

Photoshop, Figma, now AI. First obsession, then normalisation. What is left when everyone has the same tool is judgment, taste, and product thinking.

Is it always about the tool?

Alignment beats effort.

A team can sprint flat-out — PMs pitching, designers polishing, engineers staying late — and still add up to nothing without a shared target. Treat each quarter as a 3-month sprint toward one goal, and everyone’s best work finally stacks.

OKR is your 3-month company sprint

Speed does not replace direction.

AI is not just making work faster. It is making leadership visible. Even with a silver bullet, you still have to aim.

AI is surfacing leadership problems like never before

Growth does not happen in isolation.

Staying inside your own head feels safe — you’re your own critic, your own admirer. But real growth only starts once you let someone else into your bubble.

You can only grow when you’re with others
05 · how i got here

Learning and adopting along the way.

About a decade ago, I started out as a visual artist. Everything since has been shaped by working with the talented people I met along the way.

earlier days

visual artist

Digital artwork and paintings, photobashing images to bring my ideas to life. You can find some of them on my Dribbble.

2018

graphic designer

Took that eye for visual art into corporate graphic design work -- posters, brand marks, motions and videos.

2022 - present

product designer

Built products from 0-1 at Leapfrog, redesigned a healthcare product for Laudio. Later redesigned the AI-powered homebuying experience at reAlpha.

now

Founder, builder and volunteer

Building my own opinionated tools like omanote, and launched a Dashain & Tihar themed customized playing cards brand, Taas by Patterns, in 2024. Also volunteering with design communities like Design Community Nepal and Design Ka Kura, and inspiring a design mindset in students through collaborations with NGOs and institutes.

If you'd like to collaborate with me on your project, I'd love to hear about it.

06 · off the clock

The rest of the time.

Occasional writer, seasonal reader, avid cinema-watcher, serial melomaniac and a veteran digital artist. Also a person who points a phone camera at the sky more often than is reasonable.

07 · the name

[i-am-bee-shees-thuh]/'aɪ.æm.bi.ʃɪs.ðə//noun.

Short for my name, Bi(bek) Shrestha — said quickly it collapses into ‘bishistha’, a nickname from school that never left.
